If you have just bought a computer you will need some training to get the best from your purchase. The cheapest way to get to know your computer is to listen to the tapes which came with your screen reader. If no tapes have been provided you should find a text manual for your screen reader somewhere on your hard drive. Contact your screen reader provider for details.
You can also purchase other tutorials specially written for your equipment. For example Henter-Joyce who sell Jaws For Windows have tutorials on Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer. Details can be found on the tape tutorial section of this web site.
It is possible to buy individual training on a one-to-one basis in your own home. However this is rather expensive and may cost from 150 pounds per day up to 300 pounds per day. The RNIB have a fact sheet on training which lists individual trainers and also has details of some tape tutorials and self help groups. For more information go to http:// www.rnib.org.uk/wesupply/fctsheet/factlist.htm#technology or contact the RNIB Technology Information Service to obtain a set of the fact sheets.
